Wine farm Ataraxia, Hermanus

Ataraxia is home to some of the most spectacular wines South Africa has to offer. With its close proximity to the South Atlantic Ocean, the climate is particularly mild, ideal for growing cooler-climate loving grapes. Their wines are a pure expression of the soil in which they grow. Beneath a lofty mountain peak, Ataraxia is situated within the Walker Bay wine region. Hemel-en-Aarde valley lies west of Cape Agulhas, Africa’s southernmost tip. With its close proximity to the South Atlantic Ocean, the climate is particularly mild, ideal for growing cooler-climate loving grapes. They also have the privilege of cultivating some of the most ancient soils on Earth.

In 2004, The Skyfields Farm was visioned into the Ataraxia wine label when husband and wife, Kevin and Hanli Grant and a few friends purchased this 47-hectare prime vineyard property. A decade later, they are associated with crafting wines of incredible finesse, balance and depth; wines that proudly hold their own on the international wine stage.

Four wines make up the Ataraxia range: an unwooded Sauvignon Blanc, a wooded Chardonnay, a Pinot Noir and a red blend, called Serenity. Our mission is to get our dirt into the bottle with minimal intervention.
